About Cool 1 Art
“Cool 1” is a neighborhood nickname from back in the days when I was drawing caricatures of everyone I knew....

"The Goal"
In 1973, I did a couple of paintings of Bobby Orr, and John Donnelly (director of the TV 38 broadcasts arranged for me to meet him twice in the B’s dressing room and present the paintings to him. As a thank you, in 1974 I painted this behind-the-net view panorama of Orr’s famous goal, and gave it to Mr. Donnelly. Over the 48 years since I painted it, the original had faded in places. This print is my original art, and my own restoration.

"Ace"
In 1973, in the days of Bobby Orr and the big bad Bruins, I painted this panorama of the old Boston Garden during Garnet “Ace” Bailey’s dramatic game winning goal in game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals in 1972. I painted this almost completely from memory almost 50 years ago, and what was a nostalgic image has since become a memorial.

"Memories Can't Be Torn Down"
This painting captures the old Garden half torn down, with the new “Fleet Center” in the background. My brother Mick Colageo, a sportswriter who covers the Bruins, is standing in the foreground, looking into the grave and remembering Johnny Bucyk skating the Stanley Cup around the old barn. Buildings can be torn down, but memories can’t be torn down. We will never forget what it was like hanging over the ice in those steep balconies watching Bobby Orr and the big bad Bruins.
Prints are available in one size (32"x40").
We will take orders for alternative sizes upon request.

John Lennon
John, Paul, George, and Ringo were done in pastels using pictures in a magazine as my models. In the 1970’s I produced a lot of life-sized portraits for customers from their snapshots. These come from the White Album era in the late sixties.
